§ Lawrence Sutin has written a biography of Aleister Crowely entitled (appropriately enough):
Do What Thou Wilt. I haven't read it - but I have read Sutin's biography of Philip K. Dick.
I can think of no greater compliment than to say that Sutin's biography of Dick is as strange
and wonderful as Dick's own writing!
§ The Ra-Hoor-Khuit Network
is a new (at least
to me) web site with what looks to be a real goldmine of Crowleyana.
§ Two pretty good all-around, general purpose, heavy-duty Thelemic links are
The College of Thelema
(especially check out their "Equinox Online" - complete with illustrations) and
The Thelema Home Page.
§ A bunch of artsy type Thelemites in Austin, Texas have one of the most visually attractive
and well maintained thelemic pages I've ever seen -
The Scarlet Woman Lodge of the O.T.O.
§ I used to think that Crowley was just another degenerate nut-case Occultist - and possibly even a fascist. But then
I read
Eight Lectures
on Yoga
- and I realized that there
might be something to this guy after all.
§ This link also includes Magick in Theory and Practice
(Part One is especially good!) Magick Without Tears, The Book
of Lies, and the Book of the Law - but its all in ascii (serviceable,
but not pretty).
§ Of course there is the "Official" Thelemite organization: the
O. T. O.
(But what possible sense does it make to have an "official" Thelemite organization??)
§ On April 8, 9 and 10 in 1904 the being Aiwass dictated a strange book to a strange man,
resulting in Liber AL: The Book of the Law. And here's
The Book of the Law in various languages.
§ Here is a nice little Liber Resh page for ya.
§ Crowley and the artist Frieda Harris together designed the most unique and powerful
Tarot Deck in the known universe:
The Book of Thoth. And
those crazy folks at the Ra-Hoor-Khuit Network
have their own, extremely nice looking Book of Thoth section
on their web site - check it out!
And there is another Tarot deck called Navigators Tarot of the Mystic SEA that
appears to be at least in part inspired by the Thoth deck and/or Crowley's writings. Its also quite beautiful.
§ Are you worried that you might be a Thelemite? Then take this test (if
you even understand this test that is already a very bad sign!)
§ And if you scored pretty high on the test, then you'll want to check out The Ape of Thoth - a search engine for
searching the Holy Books of Thelema and other texts (including The Book of the Inlaws!).
§ Lastly - if you want to add to your collection of Crowley pics, then you might want to check out
this page.
