"If the Holy Bible was printed as an Ace Double it would be cut down to two 20,000-word halves with the Old testament retitled 'Master of Chaos' and the New Testament as 'The Thing With Three Souls'."

Philip K. Dick was a 50's, 60's and 70's Science Fiction writer. He suffered from acute agorophobia, heavily abused drugs (especially amphetamines), and, toward the end of his life, began to receive messages from purple beams of light that entered directly into his brain. His writings served as the basis for "Bladerunner" and "Total Recall" as well as other less well known films. He loved cats, drank too much, had really screwed up relationships with other members of his species, thought the FBI was after him, and wrote prose that has the power to undermine the reader's ability to distinguish what is real and what is not. Indeed, it compels the reader to ask "What is real?", and then, a moment later, "And what, if anything, is not real?"

philipkdick.com is an appropriately named web site devoted to all things phildickian.
• Here is a "Gnostic Biography" of Dick. Hmmm, that sounds interesting.
• This site used to be known as the The Unofficial Philip K. Dick Web Site - but it is unclear what hey are known as now. They have a really good links collection, including the Dicktionary.
Lawrence Sutin's bio of Dick, Divine Invasions is as weird and scary as Dick's own writing - quite a feat!
This page has a lot of good stuff for any serious Dick Head. It was formerly known as the PKD FAQ - its unclear (to me) what it is known as now.
• Dick was a Gnostic - some even think he was a Gnostic Prophet (but real Gnostics don't need no stinking Prophets). Anyway, I think that he would have liked the Gnostic Friends Network.
