Furnace Mountain, established by Zen Master Dae Gak and members of the Lexington Zen Center in 1986, is a retreat center located on seven-hundred acres of woodland in rural Kentucky. A traditional Zen temple, Kwan Se Um Sang Ji Sah, was completed in August of 1994. Furnace Mountain offers a variety of retreat opportunites for those wishing to practice the Buddha-Dharma in a rural residential setting. See www.furnacemountain.org for more details. Zen Master Dae Gak has studied Zen in both the Korean and Japanese traditions and is a Dharma Heir of Korean Zen Master Seung Sahn, receiving final transmission in 1994.
